Time To Play - A Figurative Portrait in Watercolour

This is my son when he was six years old playing on a beach in Italy.  We are lucky that I have family that live 20 minutes drive away from gorgeous sandy beaches along the Tuscan coast of Italy.   I have lots of memories of happy times spent playing in the very same spot as a child.  I wanted to create similar happy memories for my son too.

My son is now nineteen and now he too has fond memories just like I do of those wonderful sandy seaside times spent in Italy.

Strings Attached - A Fender Electric Guitar in Watercolour

This guitar went through some weird and wonderful colour stages with glazing: golden yellow, pink, blue and finally red.  This was my experimentation with different colours and seeing what hues and tones things changed to with each layer.  The blue phase got me a bit worried as things turned very blue and I wasn’t sure if I would get it back to red at that point.

Wet in Wet Versus Glazing
Here is a 10 minute Youtube clip that talks about wet in wet versus glazing.  I hope this explains the difference for some of you who may not know.

The Avocet Bird in Watercolour

The Avocet is the emblem of the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) in the UK.  Over the 20 years that I have been a member, I have spent many happy hours in RSPB Nature Reserves watching nature at its best.
