A Church Scene Using Two Primary Watercolour Pigments

An exercise I thought might be fun for my Art Society Group was to paint using  just two primary colours.

I chose indigo and quinacridone gold for the tonal range these colours can achieve. When these two colours are mixed they create muted greens.  All of which were ideal for the quintessentially British scene I wanted to paint.

  1. What a great choice. I'm very partial to quin gold anyway, but with the Indigo it really does stand out. Lovely painting.

  3. Dear Laura - wow - what you achieve with a limited palette is amazing. I am going to give these colors a try. Wish I could see your lovely church...maybe someday this little country gal will visit your lovely part of the world. Hope you have a happy Easter dear friend.

  4. Laura, thanks for showing this. I love the idea, it will force me to work my colors. The church is beautiful, I can just imagine it in real life.

  6. These two colours were such a great choice, guess all your hours of study with pigment made this an easy choice. When I see village churches On the TV I think I have been there and your painting gave me that same feeling, however I have only seen a few in real life but they are similar but lovely
